A quay for yachts and a boatyard on the East bank of the Tamar estuary, Weir Quay is also known for watching wading birds on the mud flats, including the local Avocet in Winter. The Tamar estuary complex is the fourth most important estuary in Britain for it's wintering Avocet population.

Weir Quay is on the Bere Peninsula, to get to Weir Quay, follow signs to Bere Alston and drive through or round the town, following the signs down the hill to Holes Hole. The road runs along the banks of the Tamar for one mile, before heading inland to Bere Ferrers. There is some evidence of the copper mining industry here.
