Salcombe
Salcombe is a small town in the South Hams district of Devon. It is close to the coast and has a harbour that is sheltered within the Kingsbridge estuary. In recent years it has become very popular as a centre for sailing.
The Salcombe passenger Ferry operates all year round between Salcombe and East Portlemouth on the opposite side of the estuary.
Salcombe Dairy Ice Cream is still made locally and is very special.
There are two small beaches just south of Salcombe on the inside the mouth of the Kingsbridge Estuary, South Sands and North Sands. From the National Trust property at Sharpitor, the coast path is stunning through Starehole Bay, Bolt Head, Soar Mill Cove, Bolt Tail and Hope Cove.
