Putsborough Car Park
Putsborough

Putsborough Sand is a private beach at the southern end of the beach from Woolacombe. It is a popular surfing beach, as it is protected from the prevailing south west winds by Baggy Point. There is an (expensive) car park and caravan/camper site here, a small cafe (in season) and some public toilets. Croyde is either a long walk around the coast path of Baggy Point, or a short drive through narrow lanes. There is quality walking options north to Woolacombe, either over Woolacombe Down (Bridleway) or along the beach and dunes below Marine Drive. To avoid the excessive car park prices in summer, drive to Woolacombe via Georgeham and it is possible to drive most of the way along Marine Drive to park behind the dunes for a more reasonable cost.

Putsborough Sands Car Park

The beach is private above the high water line, the road above the car park is very wide, but has strangely been made into a clearway. Like many of the local private beach car parks, it does not have fixed charges or times. Instead, on the day, depending on surf and weather conditions and how many tourists are around, the times change and the price goes up. On a weekend in summer school holidays, expect a £6 charge. On the same day, Marine Drive in Woolacombe may be £4.50.
