A small town/village on the south-eastern edge of Exmoor. Bampton fair is held every year on the last Thursday in October. Bampton dates from Saxon times and has over 100 listed buildings. Before the North Devon Link road opened in 1988, Bampton was on the main route from Taunton, but now the road has been downgraded to the B3227.
